OUR FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

The Art & Science of Coaching™ is Erickson Coaching International’s ICF-accredited, award-winning coach training program. It offers comprehensive training that follows a solution-focused coaching approach, equipping learners with invaluable skills, tools and techniques to launch coaching careers and improve both their personal and professional lives.

Yes, Erickson’s program is accredited by the International Coaching Federation (ICF) at Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3, meeting professional global coaching standards.

The course is available online (in various different global time zones and at various frequencies), including in fast-track versions; in person in a multitude of global locations; and in a hybrid format, where attendees have the option to complete part of their course in person and the remainder online.

In summary:

The Art & Science of Coaching™ program is comprised of two courses: The first course is called Essentials (Part 1: Inspiration, Part 2: Implementation) and the second course is called Advanced (Part 1: Integration, Part 2: Completion).

Every part of every course is focused on key coaching principles and client transformation, and adheres to the ICF’s Core Competencies, Ethics and Standards.

Both Level 1 and Level 2 offer attendees the chance to sign up for group and one-on-one Mentoring Bundles. These individualized and customized Mentoring Bundles are designed to support you in further developing and deepening your coaching skills with the 8 ICF Core Competencies. Erickson’s mentors are dedicated to ensuring your progress and assisting you in fine-tuning your demonstrable coaching skills. During your mentorship, they will support you to improve your coaching skills by highlighting what is working well with current coaching and by providing suggestions for your improvement.

More detailed information:

The Essentials Course

The Essentials Course covers the basic coach approach, what coaching is and isn’t, Coach Position, the importance of holding Coach Position, and the coaching process step-by-step. Part 1 is known as the ‘inspiration’ element of the course and seeks answers to the question, “What do I want to achieve?”

Part 2 has an additional focus on implementation and processes. It provides a new relationship with strategy, planning, execution, and time. Part 2 seeks answers to the question, “How might I achieve it?”

The Advanced Course

The Advanced Course includes commitment and values, raising awareness of how values enable us to commit to following through on a project. In Part 1, we address how to handle objections that may arise. Here we seek answers to the questions, “How can I continue with commitment?” and, “Why is it important for me to be doing this?”

Part 2 is the completion and integration part of the program. Here we focus on how people experience success, finding answers to the questions, “How do I complete?” and, “How will I know when I’ve achieved it?” At the same time, we move through completion of both The Essentials and Advanced Courses, including testing of skills and competencies in which the topics of all four Parts fall into place to complete the bigger picture of integrated Solution-Focused Coaching.

Erickson-approved Mentors

Erickson-approved Mentor Coaches are trained in both the principles and philosophy of Erickson Solution-Focused Coaching and the ICF Core Competencies. In addition, all Erickson-approved Mentor Coaches hold either a PCC or MCC credential by the ICF.  As your champion and partner for success, each Mentor Coach is dedicated to your development as a PCC level coach using a Solution-Focused framework.

No formal coaching or educational experience is required. The program is suitable for professionals looking to become certified coaches and individuals who are interested in learning coach training skills to upskill and develop advanced communication and leadership skills.
