To achieve your ACC certification, you must demonstrate that you have completed the following:

  • At least 60 coach training hours through an ACTP or ACSTH program.
  • At least 100 hours (70 paid) of coaching experience with at least eight clients following the start of your coach-specific training. At least 25 of these hours must occur within 24 months before applying for the credential.
  • At least 10 hours of mentoring with an ICF Registered Mentor Coach.
  • Completion of the Coach Knowledge Assessment (CKA).

How do I become a PCC coach?

To achieve your PCC certification, you must demonstrate that you have completed the following:

  • Completion of an entire ICF Accredited Coach Training Program (ACTP).
  • A minimum of 500 hours (450 paid) of coaching experience with at least 25 clients following the start of your coach-specific training. At least 50 of these hours must occur within the 18 months prior to submitting the application for the credential.
  • Completion of the Coach Knowledge Assessment (CKA).

How do I become an MCC coach?

The ICF is launching a new training course in 2022 to get you to the skillset required of a Master Certified Coach.  Previously, you could apply if you had accrued over 2500 coaching hours.  To achieve your MCC certification, moving forward you must demonstrate that you have completed the following:

  • 75 hours of master coach-specific training.
  • 10 hours of Mentor Coaching over a minimum of three months. Your Mentor Coach must be an MCC in good standing. This can’t be the same Mentor Coaching that was applied toward a previous ICF Credential application.
  • A minimum of 2,500 hours (2,250 paid) of coaching experience with at least 35 clients, following the start of your coach-specific training.
  • Performance evaluation (two audio recordings and written transcripts of coaching sessions).
  • Currently hold (or previously held) a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) Credential.
  • Complete the Coach Knowledge Assessment (CKA) unless previously passed when applying for ACC or PCC.

How often do the ACC, PCC, and MCC coaching credentials need to be renewed?

The ACC, PCC, and MCC coaching credentials must be renewed every three years with the ICF.

What is the difference between ACTP vs ACSTH?

ACTP stands for Accredited Coach Training Program and ACSTH stands for Approved Coach Specific Training Hours. The difference between the two designations with the ICF is that the ACTP is a coach training program that has more than 125 hours of training and the ACSTH is less than 125 hours.
