Online Leadership Training That Fits Around a Full-Time Career

A conversation can shift the course of a day. The right conversation can shift the course of a career.

So learning how to have better conversations deserves more than a stack of slides and a login.

Erickson's online training puts the conversation at the center. Live sessions. Real people. Coaching practice. Feedback. Reflection. A global cohort that brings its own perspectives into the room. You learn by doing, with the work unfolding around the career and life you already have.

That's the interesting thing about online learning at Erickson. The screen is simply where the room happens to be.

A different kind of classroom

There's something about learning coaching that makes passive learning difficult.

You can read about listening. You can study powerful questions. You can memorize a model. But eventually, someone has to sit across from you and say something you didn't expect.

That's where the learning gets interesting.

The Art & Science of Coaching™ is Erickson's flagship ICF-accredited coach training program, offered online as well as onsite and in hybrid formats. The online experience is live and experiential, with practice and interaction built into the learning rather than added on as an afterthought.

The schedule is designed with working professionals in mind. Online Level 1 consists of 16 live sessions, each lasting 3 hours and 15 minutes, with sessions scheduled once or twice a week. Depending on the frequency, the live course can be completed in 8 or 16 weeks. Level 2 includes the same 16-session Essentials course followed by 16 sessions of Advanced training, taking the live course component to 16 or 32 weeks depending on the schedule.

It's a serious commitment. But it's a defined one.

And because cohorts run across different time zones and frequencies, you don't have to build your professional development around somebody else's working day.

The Work Stays With You

The best learning has a habit of escaping the classroom.

A question you practiced yesterday turns up in a conversation with your team. A new way of listening changes a meeting. You notice the difference between giving someone an answer and helping them find their own.

That's where leadership development becomes useful.

Erickson's approach is grounded in Solution-Focused coaching and informed by neuroscience, with an emphasis on practical skills and immediate application.

The Solution-Focused Leadership approach brings that thinking into the realities of leadership: conversations, pressure, communication, possibility and change.

The online format doesn't put that work at a distance. It puts it into practice.

You listen. You coach. You observe. You get feedback. You try again.

And gradually, the mechanics become something more natural: a different way of being in a conversation.

Your Cohort Could Be Anywhere

This is where online learning has a little magic of its own.

The person you learn from might be sitting in another country. The leadership challenge someone brings to the room might look completely unfamiliar. A question that seems obvious to you might open up an entirely different conversation for someone else.

Erickson has a genuinely global learning network, with learners and facilitators across six continents and a presence in more than 45 locations. Its online cohorts run in different global time zones, with monthly starts and fast-track options available.

That diversity isn't decoration.

Coaching is about perspective. The more perspectives enter the room, the more there is to notice.

You start to see how differently people interpret the same situation. How culture shapes a conversation. How leadership looks from another seat at the table.

The classroom gets bigger without getting louder.

Americas

Online cohorts are scheduled across global time zones, with current start dates and session times changing throughout the year. Check the live course calendar for the next available option in your region.

EMEA

Professionals across Europe, the Middle East and Africa can choose from current cohorts designed around different regional schedules.

APAC

Asia Pacific learners can explore the wider global schedule and find a cohort with live sessions that suit their location.

Online doesn't mean less human

There's an old assumption that online learning has to feel like a diluted version of being in a room.

For coaching, that misses the point. The room was never the important part. The conversation was.

Erickson's online training keeps live interaction at the heart of the experience. The same core program is available online, onsite and in hybrid formats, with the online pathway maintaining the live, practice-based nature of the learning.

You aren't watching someone demonstrate coaching from a distance. You're stepping into the practice yourself.

That changes the energy.

You have to listen closely. You have to notice what is happening. You have to find the question rather than reaching for a script.

And because your peers aren't all sitting in the same city, you get something an in-person room can't always offer: a cohort shaped by different places, professions and perspectives.

Learning across locations brings more voices into the room, broadening the perspectives, experiences and conversations that shape how you coach.

What Does Erickson Bring to the Experience?

The methodology matters because it shapes what you notice.

Erickson is built around Solution-Focused coaching, a future-focused approach that looks for possibility, progress and the resources already available to the person being coached. Its curriculum is also informed by cognitive science, brain science, neuroplasticity, adult learning and memory research.

That gives the learning a particular character.

Curious rather than prescriptive. Practical rather than theoretical for its own sake. Focused on what can move.

The Art & Science of Coaching™ takes learners through Essentials and Advanced courses, with the program structured around Inspiration, Implementation, Integration and Completion. Erickson's Level 1 and Level 2 pathways are ICF-accredited.

And the leadership coaching pathway gives professionals a route from developing coaching capability into deeper professional coaching practice.

Erickson offers ICF-accredited Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 pathways, Team Coaching accreditation, and ICF-approved Supervision training, alongside CCE-certified training programs and Masterclasses.

When Your Classroom Has No Walls

Online learning changes more than the location of the lesson.

It changes who can be in the room.

It changes when learning can happen.

And, at its best, it changes what happens after the session ends.

A coaching conversation doesn't stay on the screen. You take it into the next meeting, the next one-to-one, the next difficult conversation. You begin to hear the difference between listening to respond and listening for possibility.

That's when professional development stops feeling like something you're fitting into your calendar.

It starts becoming part of how you work.

What Do You Need to Participate?

You'll need a suitable device, reliable internet access and a setup that allows you to participate fully in live video sessions.

The more important ingredient is engagement. This is experiential learning, so you'll be working with facilitators and peers rather than simply moving through recorded material.

If your work commitments change, speak with an Erickson advisor about the arrangements that apply to your specific course and cohort, particularly around attendance, mentoring, assessment or changing schedules.

The Experience After the Experience

The cohort doesn't have to disappear when the course does.

Erickson+ gives alumni an ongoing community with professional development resources, live demonstrations, workshops and opportunities to connect with other coaches around the world.

That matters because coaching isn't a skill you finish learning.

There's always another conversation.

Another person.

Another moment when a different question might open a different door.
