Erickson Coaching International Integrates Updated ICF Core Competencies into Training Programs

Vancouver, BC – September 9, 2025 – Erickson Coaching International today announced that it has already taken steps to integrate the updated ICF Core Competencies 2025 into its world-class coach training programs. With early access to the competencies ahead of the public release, Erickson acted swiftly to ensure its curriculum, mentor coaching, and performance standards remain at the forefront of global coaching education.

The International Coaching Federation (ICF) updates its Core Competencies every five to seven years, following a comprehensive, evidence-based global analysis of coaching practices. The 2025 updates build on the 2019 framework, introducing refinements in language, clarity, and relevance to reflect the evolving realities of the coaching profession.

“Erickson has always been committed to excellence and alignment with ICF standards,” said Marilyn Atkinson, President of Erickson Coaching International. “By embedding these updates into our programs immediately, we’re ensuring that every learner -current and future- receives the highest-quality education rooted in the most up-to-date professional standards.”

What This Means for Learners

- For Current Students: Erickson is seamlessly weaving the updated competencies into existing training modules, ensuring no disruption while providing enhanced clarity and application tools.

- For Future Learners: Programs launching from this fall onward will fully reflect the updated framework, preparing students for accreditation and coaching practice at the highest global standards.

- For Alumni: Erickson will offer resources and workshops to help graduates integrate the updated competencies into their ongoing coaching practice.

These updates also anticipate forthcoming changes to ICF’s Minimum Skills Requirements for performance evaluations. Erickson is already preparing learners for this shift, reinforcing its role as a leader in coach education and as a trusted partner in professional development.

“Coaching is about staying relevant, evidence-based, and solution-focused,” added Richard Hyams, Erickson Coaching International’s Global Faculty Lead. “Our learners can move forward with confidence knowing Erickson is on top of these changes and dedicated to their long-term success.”
